What to consider before you go on a tour
Using your phone
Without doubt the mobile phone has become one of those can’t be without devices. This is certainly true when you are touring, especially in another country.
Keeping your phone safe is the most important thing as our lives are now so entwined with these devices enabling us to research things, stay in touch, pay for things and of course navigate too!
What to think about
Taking your phone with you on a tour is a must these days as we seem to use them in every aspect of our lives and on a tour they can certainly make things much easier.

Think about what you will be using your phone for when abroad so that you can be prepared before you go.
Don’t forget to take your charging cables and a travel adapter too. We would suggest taking a spare or two, just in case.
Roaming Charges
Roaming charges can become expensive when away from home, so check with your network provider and your contract to ensure you won’t be hit with any huge bills when you get home.
Consider a VPN
VPN apps are great, some are free and some are paid for apps, but in essence they will allow you to watch Netflix in the evenings, view content in your own language and also add a layer of protection when using hotel wifi.
Ferry Crossings
You can of course use your phone for music and many other apps that don’t need an internet connection, but when you are on a ferry such as Brittany Ferries, make sure you use the AIRPLANE mode as their data charges are really expensive.
Keep Up To Date
There are lots of phone mirroring devices available now. These mirror your phone on a screen and mean you can keep your phone safe while riding. If you use one, bear in mind you may need to keep your phone battery topped up throughout the day.
